Here you will find the famous
fish market of Venice, with fresh fish and
shellfish and other creatures from the Adriatic
Sea and the lagoon, and a large open vegetable
market. On Tuesday through Saturday mornings
the fish market (adjacent to the Rialto produce
market) provides an impressive lesson in ichthyology,
with species you've probably never seen before.
The beautiful frame of the grand canal, where the fish market faced on
is a unique experience, mostly at the early morning when the old Venetian
population move there to find the best quality food and you can be involved
in discussion and suggestion about the right fish to buy.
