Restaurants in Venice offer a wide variety of cuisines, ranging from international fast food to five-star Italian cookery. Many of the specialities are fish based, and there is an excellent selection of seasonal vegetables harvested from the gardens of St. Erasmo Island. For a light snack try l'osteria', or  cicheti'- these small dishes are usually varieties of meatballs, fried vegetables, anchovies or cured meats. Sandwiches also make a delicious snack- the delicious dough for the bread is made with the city water. For larger meals, a lot of Venice's top-quality gourmet restaurants can be found in San Marco which is the most prestigious area of the city. However, if you are looking for a more typical restaurant, why not try the more down to earth alternatives to be found in the Castello or Cannaregio districts.

Campo Santa Margherita

There are 3 night clubs in Venice, none of which are very easy to find. Starting from Piazzale Roma (car park) moving on the direction to Accademia is Campo Sant Margherita, a meeting point for venetians students. Neat there is a nice music bar called Venice Jazz Club. It is open just at the aperitiv time from 6 till 9 o’ clock and it proposes a nice live jazz music program. Otherwise, a small walk from the Accademia bridge is night club called Piccolo Mondo (Venetians still refer to it as Souk if you are asking directions.) There is a cover charge, but it's open a lot later than the 2 o'clock closing time of the other two clubs in the area.
In San Marco district there are another couple of clubs to be found.

One is Alla Vecia Malvasia, a club known well only by Venetians because of its hard to find location, but provided with good music, and well frequented by young people until closing time at 4 am. To get there from San Marco square take the street 22 Marzo on the way to Accademia, then after the San Silvestro square cross the next square, and then after the bridge turn right onto the Fondamenta della Malvasia to cross another bridge and then turn at the first calle on the left to finally arrive at the door of the club. Near here is also the Martini dancing night club, an elegant place good just for a drink with Italian music; you can find it next to La Fenice theatre.
