By car

The only way to get to Venice by car is over the Ponte della Libertà bridge; This bridge connects Venice to the mainland and ends at Piazzale Roma. Here you must park your car and continue your visit by foot. In the Piazzale Roma there are several indoor and outdoor car parks that have different parking fees: look around to find the right fee based on your period of stay. Another solution is to park your car at the Tronchetto car park, reach this by turning right immediately at the end of the Ponte della Libertà bridge just before you get to Piazzale Roma. At the Tronchetto parking area there are many indoor and outdoor car parks that are also cheaper than Piazzale Roma; from Tronchetto there is a boat service that can connect you to the Canal Grande and to Piazza San Marco.

By plane – Marco Polo Airport

The “Marco Polo” airport is the nearest airport to Venice, from there you can reach Venice in various ways: by water taxi, by the Alilaguna motor boat or by using the “Venezia Air Terminal” bus.

By plane – Treviso airport

Treviso's airport is used by Ryanair and a few other charter services to and from London. ATVO buses run between the airport and Venice's Piazzale Roma to coincide with flights. Go to www.atvo.it for timetable information.

By train

The Santa Lucia Railway Station is a large building located at the beginning of the Grand Canal in the Santa Croce area of the city. It is easy to reach the city centre on foot walking down the Strada Nuova or by taking the water bus from one of the jetties that are opposite the station.

From Piazzale Roma take a water bus (vaporetto), lines 1, 82 or 52 to get to San Marco and Rialto.
